The online music segment has now almost taken shape of a regularised industry. Although the demon of music piracy is still looms large but the future seems to be bright with newer ideas. But the contentious issue of online music sharing is refusing to die down. Music download sites are making there presence felt all over the web as more and more people are downloading music illegally. This has hit the music industry badly but now things are changing a little bit.

Independent researchers have discovered the fact that people who share music online also spend a lot on buying music legally. This further substantiates the finding of The Leading Question, a digital music research firm who found out that they

spent four and a half times more on paid-for music downloads than average fans! These fans are just crazy about songs and performances of their idols and go to any length to enrich their respective music collections by quality music!

Have you ever marveled at how artists can quickly sketch out a beautiful landscape scene and convert it into a full-fledged painting? I have and I’ve always been jealous of their ability to do so.

I’ve often wondered why music couldn’t be more like this. Of course composers know how to go about creating a complete piece of music, but I didn’t want to spend years learning theory and harmonic analysis. I didn’t want to study form and compositional technique. Not because I was lazy or unmotivated but because there had to be a simpler way of taking what I felt inside and turning it into a piano improvisation or composition.

You know, I’m getting sick and tired of people putting down New Age music. Especially when most of the people who say they don’t like it secretly have an Enya or other “soothing” CD in their music collection.

The term “new age” has gotten mixed up with music in such a way that normally well meaning and intelligent people think there’s something amiss with it. They believe that it’s not OK to like a music that is peaceful and beautiful - especially when the connotation is that it’s somehow “evil” or bad.
